Cool down Zurich - Presentation at the symposium «Heat Reduction»
As global warming persists and urban temperatures continue to rise, attention is increasingly directed toward densely populated urban areas. These so-called «heat islands» present significant challenges for cities. To address these developments, targeted measures must be implemented to mitigate heat, both in urban development and infrastructure.
As part of the exhibition «Cool Down Zurich - We Cool the City», the City of Zurich invites you to the symposium «Heat Reduction on Buildings» at the Stadtgarten. City and regional planner Dunja Kovari will inaugurate the first thematic session, which explores the intersections between urban planning, politics, and the real estate industry. She will present the twelve principles for a sustainable and resilient urban climate developed by sa_partners.
Dunja Kovari emphasizes that urban climate is a cross-cutting issue influenced by various levels, including planning instruments, buildings, public spaces, water management, mobility, and infrastructure. Each of these levels presents opportunities to positively impact the urban climate.
