On the way to “net zero”, the circular economy represents a key opportunity. The evaluation and securing of sites for facilitating circular economy is therefore becoming increasingly important. On behalf of the Canton of Aargau - Department of Construction, Transport and Environment under the leadership of the Environment Department and in close cooperation with the Spatial Development Department - the opportunities of the circular economy as a regenerative system for sustainable spatial development were determined. For this purpose, innovative approaches in regard to the concept of Urban Mining were examined, and possible solutions for securing the future locations of important facilities for the circular economy were identified.
