sa_p wins international competition for Offizine Bellinzona to transform the industrial downtown into a green and vibrant Urban Living Lab
In collaboration with TAMassociati, Studio Franco Giorgietta and Golder, the international team in lead of sa_p won the masterplan competition Officine Bellinzona with the aim to transform the capital of Ticino, Bellinzona into a green Urban Living Lab. The proposal “Porta del Ticino” brings the industrial legacy of the site into value and combines it with a contemporary program with a strong focus on sustainability. It introduces not only a central park in the heart of the project, but also agricultural roofs, façades and areas as well as closed water circles as part of a regenerative system.
To assure local acceptance the project focusses on creating a vibrant and mixed-use new district, that applies principles of inclusivity, resilience, biodiversity, connectivity and quality of life, and re-establishes the connection of the formerly closed-off site to the city centre.
Offizine Bellinzona is a testing ground for new living, working and producing forms that aim for a climate resilient, future oriented and people friendly future.
