Set in Zangilan City Park beside the Okhchuchay River, the International Conference Centre forms a new civic landmark for Zangilan. Completed and opened in 2023, the complex is organized as two sculptural buildings around a shared plaza: a congress centre with a 600-seat auditorium, generous foyer, VIP and support rooms, offices, and a separate restaurant pavilion with a 240-seat hall, bar, kitchens and flexible rooms for smaller events. Conceived for national and international conferences as well as community gatherings, the centre extends the city’s public life beyond formal congress use.
Its architecture draws on Zangilan’s hills, river landscape and megalithic stone formations. Like boulders left on the riverbank after flooding, the solid volumes appear as protective rocks along the water. Few openings reduce overheating, while green roofs and solar panels reinforce the project’s ecological character.
